Description

The modern and low-emission BR 266 comes to Train Simulator, ideal for running freight services on Germany’s extensive rail network.

Built in Canada by General Motors, the BR 266 is based on the UK’s Class 66 diesel locomotive, externally resembling the UK locomotive in appearance but with a different internal control desk to accommodate for the addition of German rail systems.

The locomotive is operated by a number of German hauliers, including Euro Cargo Rail, HGK, Rail4Chem and HHPI, and regularly hauls heavy freight across Germany and Western Europe.

The BR 266 for Train Simulator is available in grey/silver livery and features SIFA driver vigilance, PZB and LZB signalling systems, along with Megafret container wagons.

The locomotive is also Quick Drive compatible, giving you the freedom to drive the BR 266 on any Quick Drive enabled route for Train Simulator, such as those available through Steam. Also included are scenarios specifically for the West Rhine: Cologne-Koblenz route (available separately and required to play these scenarios).

Scenarios

Three scenarios for the West Rhine: Cologne-Koblenz route:
  • Cargo Carrier to Koblenz
  • Evening Freight Duties
  • Rush Hour Rescue

More scenarios are available on Steam Workshop online and in-game. Train Simulator’s Steam Workshop scenarios are free and easy to download, adding many more hours of exciting gameplay. With scenarios being added daily, why don’t you check it out now!

I cannot recommend this with a clear consciousness. PZB is so fundamentally broken here that it's outrageous how it passed their QA which everybody familiar with RSC/DTG knows is severely lacking. It looks like they

Unplayable physics, unplayable PZB (even it has the 3 modes, sometimes you have emergency brake in double yellow signals when passing over as well as the 500mhz magnet), If you buy this, you are wasting the money. It is

It's an ok DLC. I can't fully recommend it as it has its issues and one of the scenarios is a bit "meh" (and partially "wonked"). I also feel like it's a reskin from some other UK diesel, but I'm not too sure about

I can only suggest this in a sale only. I don't like to be a bearer of bad news as I like to be positive on the whole. The good points is that the model is good and the textures are nicely made but that is all I can say

I love this loco. I don't use all the safety systems, so no clue how those work. The interior is nice, and it handles pretty well too IMO.
