Play the Dark Fantasy Campaign

You are Ranger, a warrior armed with a powerful arsenal of weapons. Quake is a really fun fast paced FPS, with really great combat, weapons, and the maps are one of the best parts of the game, since it's like Doom, except it's a Lovecraft version of it. Definitely recommend this game.

Coming from half life to this game is a really cool experience, seeing how this genre has progressed over time, while i do believe half life is objectively better than quake, I do think this game deserves more respect

To be honest, Bethesda did a pretty good job with the port. Not bad at all. Still, I'd suggest looking at community available ports first if you are looking for that classic, nostalgic, and authentic Quake experience.
