After putting this game down again and again for 4 years, I finally finished chapter 9 today. Considering that this is a game from the same franchise as the first Ni no Kuni title, this game can not hold up in any way.
I'm not that into JRPGs. This is one of the few I actually like. Beautiful graphics, plenty of side content and I think the combat is actually pretty good. Could be better, but it's still fun for me.
Two words: Bastion platforming. Worse than any QTE because the camera is locked at the worst possible angle (at least on PC). You cannot die, the designers just want you to spend hours jumping and falling before showing
6 hrs in. Open world from the get-go, great graphics and world. Combat is fun, can't wait to build stuff. A little reminiscent of Dark Cloud games by the same studio. If you liked those games, you'll love this one!
