About the Game

February 1945. The war is almost over but your fight is about to begin. You play Gerda Larsen, a young nurse who is torn between her community and her desperate quest to save her husband, Anders. Many other lives will come to depend on your decisions.

Gerda’s journey will involve moral dilemmas, difficult conversations, and sticky situations. It’s a dangerous world and you must help her adapt to it with the choices you make, which always have both short- and long-term consequences.

If you give away precious resources to somebody who needs them now, will you come to regret it later? Will there be consequences if you, as a nurse, help a person who is suffering even though they may later cause suffering to others?

Make the most of what you have: your personality points, your allegiances, and your resources. Your relationship with people and factions will determine how your story unfolds. Level up Gerda’s mental skills by reflecting on her experiences in her diary to gain personality skill points. Use these skills during events and conversations to unlock special actions, gain others’ trust, or keep them from suspecting you.

You can choose where to explore and when – but do so wisely, as people move around and events can be time sensitive. As you investigate and make progress, your choices will send you down many different narrative paths. Will you do whatever it takes to save Anders, or will you cling fiercely to your morals? Your actions will lead to several poignant conclusions and change the fate of your community in Gerda: A Flame in Winter.

The biggest issue I have is with the story. It's set in Denmark at the end of WW2, during the nazi occupation. The writers of the game try the best they can to make the player emphatize with everyone, showing both

A tragic story wonderfully told. In advance, I have only played Gerda's side of the story so far, and I haven't seen everything there is to every possible event either. The whole experience felt very real, like being

I came into this expecting some low-budget indie game with a slow-moving, kinda boring story but the price was real cheap so I bought it and gave it a chance. BOY am I glad I decided to fire this one up the other day.

Another Don't Nod banger. This is an isometric 'adventure' in which you play as the wife of an arrested resistance fighter in World War 2 Nazi-occupied Denmark. Sounds a right laugh, right? Day by day you have to

This game has a lot of potential for a 2nd playthrough. I thought the story telling was so good, and really tugged at my heart strings. This is really a choice based game where choices matter significantly.

Gerda: A Flame in Winter is a quiet, emotionally charged narrative game that approaches the Second World War from an angle rarely explored in the medium. Instead of battlefields, resistance raids, or heroic soldier
