About the Game
Centuries ago, a devastating cosmic event tore apart the heart of the galaxy, leaving behind an impenetrable ring of shattered hyperspace at its core—untouchable by conventional engines.
Since then, travel to the central systems has been impossible. Scattered throughout the galaxy are unstable hyperspace rifts, remnants of the disaster, along with the emergence of a mysterious alien race: the Xsotan. These enigmatic beings appear to have mastered movement across the broken fabric of space, yet remain unreachable and uncommunicative.
Whispers speak of a rare, indestructible material known as 'Avorion'—a metal seen only near the galactic center, coinciding with the Xsotan's arrival. It's said they forge their warships from this substance, making them nearly invincible.
Begin your journey at the galaxy’s edge as an unknown pilot and push ever inward toward its dangerous, resource-rich core. Inspired by sandbox classics like X and Freelancer, Avorion blends deep player freedom with seamless co-op multiplayer and revolutionary ship-building mechanics. Craft vessels from fully scalable, destructible blocks—each ship procedurally generated and capable of disintegrating precisely where impacts occur during combat.
Arm your ship with chainguns, guided missiles, energy beams, and advanced turrets. Watch in real time as enemy hulls splinter and collapse at the point of impact—thanks to fully simulated destruction physics.
Fight for allies against marauding pirates, hunt bounties for profit, or throw yourself into galaxy-spanning faction wars. Victory yields loot that fuels your upgrades: deploy turrets with special abilities like autofire or repair beams, enhance systems to support heavier armaments, build hangars to command squadrons of fighters, or sabotage enemy freighters to seize their cargo.
Journey through radiant nebulae and perilous asteroid fields teeming with secrets. Encounter diverse factions, each ruling their sector with distinct philosophies—diplomatic, warlike, or enigmatic. Every race has unique visual aesthetics in both ships and stations.
Set your own pace across the stars. Discover priceless relics in derelict wrecks, rich asteroid belts ripe for mining, massive rogue asteroids you can claim as fortresses, and cryptic fragments of lore unraveling the truth behind the ancient Event.
Your ship’s design is limited only by imagination and resources. Prefer creation without constraints? Try creative mode—design freely without needing functional systems. Forget tedious micro-management; Avorion allows bold, artistic construction while keeping gameplay intuitive.
Balance beauty with performance. Factor in agility, energy load, and structural integrity. Optimize for function—whether it’s a nimble scout ship or a shielded dreadnought built to dominate entire sectors.
Why stop at one vessel? Build a fleet. Hire AI captains, manage crews, assign hangars, and deploy coordinated fighter wings. Command a navy capable of conquering trade routes—or defending them.
Add a cargo bay to your flagship, scout high-profit trade lanes, and haul over 100 unique goods across sectors to amass wealth. Specialized haulers with massive storage can turn you into the galaxy’s most influential trader.
Expand your reach by establishing asteroid mines and automated factories. Draw NPC traders to your outposts, install smart trading systems that track market shifts across regions, and rise to become the wealthiest commander in known space.
Or abandon virtue altogether—become a feared raider. Hijack freighters, traffic illicit goods, or collect bounties as a merciless headhunter.
You’re not alone in this vast universe. With full co-op multiplayer, team up with friends to construct massive stations, wage war on enemy factions, or defend each other from pirate attacks.
Share cockpit duties—one steers, the other fires. Coordinate fleet operations, expand your dominion, and build a shared empire among the stars.
Or turn on your allies… break alliances, sabotage their ships, and reignite old grudges. This is your sandbox. Do whatever you want.
In Avorion, the galaxy bends to your choice. Forge a peaceful trade empire, lead a militarized armada, or live as a lawless scavenger. Customize your path, command your fleet, and forge your legacy—all while pushing closer to the shattered heart of the galaxy, where greater dangers—and greater rewards—await.

A really amazing game which! It takes quite simple mechanics and manages to create some quite complex and open possibilies with it. Took me 160h to beat. A game with I went on and off about I count to some of my
As someone who loves X4: Foundations, Elite Dangerous, Space Engineers, and even the empire-building chaos of Mount & Blade: Bannerlord, Avorion scratches a very specific itch in a way few games do. It blends space
No longer supports MacOS. Stopped working with the MacOS update for 26.4. It's been months, and it still doesn't work - client crash after about 5 minutes. Before that, it was also sketchy - memory would be comsumed
A Mix of Minecraft meets EVE, but offline. Build your own ships from blocks, place the turrets where you want, Make your ship a massive battleship with 30 cannons, make it high tech and fast with a lot of shields for
My only complaints are optimization and UI. This game is amazing, so much freedom and fun to be had. The UI is clunky as hell, the AI captains need more autonomy so you don't have to micromanage large fleets every move
No need to add onto what's already been said. This is the greatest space game I've ever played. The only thing it's lacking maybe is proper combat balancing so wars between player factions can become more balanced. It's
