Description

Ashen is an open-world cooperative action RPG that follows the journey of a lone traveler searching for belonging in a desolate, beautifully haunting realm.

Seamless Co-Op Exploration
Wander a vast, interconnected world where other players appear organically—just like the subtle multiplayer presence in Journey. Encounters are silent but significant: choose to battle alongside strangers, invite them to join your cause, or pass them by without a word. No forced interactions—only moments forged by choice.

Dark Souls Reimagined
Ashen honors the core of the "souls"-style experience—methodical, stamina-driven combat and a world steeped in melancholy and peril. Yet every path carved is unique. Venturing through mist-laden marshes, frozen fjords, or crumbling ruins reshapes your story dynamically. This isn't just a brutal world—it's one that responds to your presence.

Enemies and Endurance
The land teems with danger—feral creatures and hostile forces lurk in every shadow. Success demands observation and strategy, not recklessness. Even the most mundane lifeforms can turn deadly; every decision in combat carries weight. Respect the world, or be consumed by it.

Build Your Town, Forge Your Path
Rescue survivors and welcome them to your burgeoning settlement. These aren't mere NPCs—they're skilled artisans who bring essential crafting talents, from weapon forging to herbal foraging. Your town evolves with each arrival, shaping how you survive and thrive.

A Tale Woven by Masters
The narrative depth of Ashen was shaped in collaboration with acclaimed fantasy author Mark Lawrence (The Broken Empire series) and atmospheric band Foreign Fields. The result is a richly layered story elevated by an evocative, original score that pulses through the ruins of a forgotten age.

The game keeps crashing after a few minutes. I can’t even create a character without it crashing. I spent some time troubleshooting, but none of the fixes worked for me. I refunded it because it is literally unplayable.

I have a lot more hours in this game than my profile shows as I got the game when it released on Epic games, and after over 6 years I can still say Ashen is my favourite game of all time. The atmosphere of the game is

This game is genuinely beautiful, even if a bit flawed. The buildcrafting is very thin, and the weapons feel virtually identical (to the game's credit, they aren't, though I digress). It's a humble game, not very long,

Wow, what a game. I know the reviews are mixed, and this is A44's first game as far as I know, but wow. There are obviously pro's and cons, the design is amazing, the art style is gorgeous, and exploring around with the

This is a great game that I wish had a sequel. The music and environment is great. Its a souls like game that you can somewhat relax and play. There are difficulty spikes and challenging bosses, but it feels as though
