Description

Step into the role of chief executive in Airport CEO, a comprehensive tycoon and management simulation where you design, construct, and operate your very own airport empire. From laying down runways and taxiways to crafting fully functional terminals complete with check-in counters, security checkpoints, dining establishments, and retail outlets — every decision is yours to make. Oversee the business side of operations by recruiting staff and executives, negotiating contracts with airline partners, and maintaining financial stability through careful budget and resource management.

Passenger satisfaction sits at the heart of your success. Minimize wait times, deploy attentive and capable personnel, and maintain a safe, secure environment — because a content traveler is one who opens their wallet. Along the way, you'll face real-world challenges including overworked staff, mechanical failures, and unpredictable weather that can trigger significant delays or force emergency landings. When operations crumble, the blame lands on your desk — but when everything clicks, the financial rewards are extraordinary.

Running an Airport

Your ultimate goal is to engineer and oversee a world-class airport through smart strategic planning, thoughtful layout design, and relentless dedication to both passenger and airline satisfaction. Construction begins from the ground up — terminal foundations, flooring, walls, doorways, and furnishings must all be placed alongside critical infrastructure like runways, taxiways, and aprons. Every system within Airport CEO operates through deep, intricate simulation, and it falls entirely on you to keep everything functioning efficiently while maintaining a healthy bottom line.

Airlines

Airlines and their passengers form the financial backbone of your airport. Securing contracts with carriers generates steady revenue streams and brings travelers through your gates, unlocking opportunities to collect service fees and benefit from passenger spending. Each airline varies in scale and comes with its own set of operational demands — and it's your responsibility to schedule flights effectively while consistently meeting those requirements. Emergencies, weather disruptions, and regional accidents will occasionally test your crisis management abilities and push your skills to their limits.

Passengers

Every traveler in Airport CEO is a fully simulated individual with a distinct personality, personal backstory, unique needs, and most critically — a flight to catch. Their behavior, choices, and opinions of your airport shift based on a wide variety of factors. Like real-world travelers, they queue up, complete check-in, clear security, and find ways to pass the time before boarding. Arriving passengers navigate to baggage claim, retrieve their luggage, and may pass through customs before heading to their transfer. Whether they make their flight on time is entirely in your hands. Confused passengers prompt you to install information desks; lengthy security queues push you to expand screening capacity; bored gate-area travelers inspire you to open duty-free shops or premium retail boutiques.

Employees

Your workforce is the engine that keeps your airport operational. Like passengers, every employee is a simulated person with their own behaviors and limitations. Staff roles span a broad spectrum — passenger service agents, janitors, ramp agents, mechanics, security personnel, administrators, and executives all play vital parts. As your airport scales up in size and complexity, so too must the diversity and expertise of your team. Employees who interact directly with the public must be people-savvy and stress-resilient to maintain service quality and avoid costly errors under pressure.

Facilities and Buildings

Airports are vast, intricate structures housing a remarkable variety of buildings and services. A modest airstrip and basic terminal may suffice early on, but growth demands expansion — air traffic control towers, larger aircraft stands, extended taxiways, and dedicated stations for fire response, weather monitoring, catering, and fuel supply all become necessities. Terminal construction in Airport CEO offers deep customization, letting you define its footprint and interior details including floor materials, wall configurations, windows, and entry points. Baggage handling must be carefully orchestrated to match every bag with its rightful flight, requiring thoughtful design to eliminate bottlenecks and optimize passenger flow.

Being a CEO

Numbers drive decisions. As the acting chief executive, you'll draw on multiple data sources to evaluate performance and steer your airport toward success. Your authority extends beyond architecture — the people within your airport are also your responsibility. Overwhelmed by flight scheduling? Establish an informatics department and let automated systems handle the load. Struggling to keep finances in check? Bring on a CFO to help streamline costs and optimize pricing strategies. The airport is yours to build, yours to manage, and yours to master — good luck.

I am terrible because I am a perfectionist... and I think that's what got me through 80 hours or so already. It's enjoyable, simple, but difficult if you don't "look up the formulas". Just play, suffer, and enjoy.

Their new boring, useless, generic game called ATMOSFAR got mixed reviews, but.. It is 500+ review(buys) for 1+ month vs 300 reviews(buys) of Airport CEO for 5 years. People is stupid. Deal with it. Games like Airport

It's a fun game, dont get me wrong, but it feels so unpolished even though it released in 2021. And with a lack of updates theres no new things that make the game worth the money. You can just speedrun all the R&D

Great game that sadly gets a little caught up in itself when your airports get HUGE. Real shame the devs gave up on it as with some UX and performance tweeks it could be a real classic
