Description

Rise from devastation and build an empire from nothing in Age of Wonders 4: Rise from Ruin. Venture into the Withered Worlds and traverse their broken landscapes alongside the Nomad Culture, a people uniquely shaped to endure and flourish amid ruin. Uncover the forbidden magics that once tore these worlds apart, then decide whether to cast them out entirely or bend their destructive force to your will.

New Culture: Command the Nomads, unrivaled in movement across both battlefield and open world, transporting whole cities throughout the realm in ceaseless pursuit of domination. These scavengers of magical wastelands bleed the earth dry of its potent essences before abandoning it to ruin. Opt for Conquerors to unleash swift, aggressive campaigns that seize enemy lands, or choose Scavengers to plunder ancient wonders and battlefield spoils, fueling an ever-growing engine of power.

New Form: Rule over the nation of Harefolk, the survivors who literally outpaced the end of the world. When civilization crumbled, they persisted through sheer speed, razor-sharp instincts, and an unbreakable drive to endure. Where others perish, they prosper, wielding agility and cunning as their most lethal tools.

New World Map Content: Struggle to survive in the Astral Barrens, a new terrain type born from catastrophic magical devastation, where magic itself becomes an enemy. This merciless wasteland saps mana, halts regeneration, and punishes spellcasters as volatile energies cause spells to backfire and living magic to decay. Discover Fractured Infestations, ancient wonders, and shattered nodes that pull you deeper into a harrowing post-apocalyptic landscape. The Astral Sea worlds have further been expanded with 20 painstakingly handcrafted regions. Weather the Devouring Winds through the Echoes of the Fracturing realm trait, where a world-engulfing crisis transforms every spell cast into a dangerous gamble.

New Narrative Content: Discover the Fated Regions scattered throughout the realm — the Withered Worlds left as monuments to Archmages who once chased the power of the Well of Creation. Undertake epic quests to recover ancient artifacts bound to the origins of the Devouring Winds, plunging you into the poisoned ruins of their fallen domains, where you must confront the horrors unleashed by their catastrophic ambitions.

New Tomes:

  • Tome of the Warband: Forge disciplined martial forces and guide your units up through the ranks.

  • Tome of Sand Stalkers: Unleash creeping deserts upon your foes, blind and hunt them relentlessly, and call forth a desert Guardian to defend your domain.

  • Tome of the Warlord: Crush the world beneath the boots of fearsome warriors backed by infernal allies.

New Wildlife and Units. Encounter dangerous new Wildlife prowling the realm:

  • 6 Fractured creatures twisted beyond recognition by their brush with catastrophe.

  • 2 Desert animals: The lethal Sand Scorpion and Sand Worm await the unwary.

Additional Content:

  • 5 New Realm Traits and 2 new Realm Templates.

  • 2 New Mounts: Camels and Scorpions.

  • 3 New Music Tracks composed by Michiel van den Bos.

  • New Interface Skin for a completely immersive visual experience.

I think again the ball has kind of been dropped here. This is twice in a row now that DLCs have been disappointing. However, unlike with the vampire DLC this is not because there is not much content and what does exist

One thing I'd really want Triumph to take to heart is to not make across-the-board balance changes mid-release of a DLC bundle, rather roll those out before or after a bundle is released and patched. The problem I have

Hard to recommend spending $20 on yet another furry race in a game that already has 10 of them. No story, no lore, no unique mechanics. Just another anthro animal race because that's apparently the target audience.

I'm not really sure why this is getting reviewed negatively in any capacity. Let's set aside from the moment the massive free update that came out alongside this. So we have a new culture, three new tomes and 8 new

The complains about the movement and Defense/Resistance changes are folks appearing to just looking at the issue at face value without understanding the reasoning behind them. They are good and helped steer the game
