Whether you're a veteran commander or just beginning your conquest, this DLC delivers content steeped in history that can be experienced across multiple game modes.
Expanding upon the concept of variant civilizations, this DLC brings forth the Knights Templar and the House of Lancaster, each reimagining the French and English respectively. These forces arrive armed with a wealth of distinctive units, fresh mechanics, and innovative strategies. Take charge of the mighty Knights Templar, whose fearless crusaders draw upon a blend of European military traditions to offer a broad spectrum of tactical strengths. Command the steadfast House of Lancaster, forged through the chaos of the War of the Roses and renowned for unmatched ranged warfare; they harness a flourishing economy to unlock technological advancements rarely seen across Europe of that era. Both variant civilizations introduce thrilling new combat possibilities, guaranteeing that every match becomes a battle of cunning and valor in equal measure.
Relive the legacy of these legendary forces in the exciting new Historical Battles game mode. Mobilize the Knights Templar and House of Lancaster across missions drawn from iconic moments in history. Command the Knights Templar at the Battle of Montgisard as they repel the advancing armies of Saladin. Guide the House of Lancaster through their struggle for survival against the Yorkists following a devastating loss at the Battle of Towton.
Crafted to offer a window into defining chapters of history, these four missions reward repeated play as you experiment with new approaches and chase medal rankings. Each mission also features an optional Conqueror Mode tailored for the most daring of players.
Beyond that, this DLC breathes new life into skirmish and multiplayer sessions with 10 brand-new maps. Traverse a wide array of landscapes spanning rolling countryside to perilous warzones, each requiring unique strategies and sharp tactical awareness. From flanking maneuvers in competitive multiplayer to calculated sieges on historically grounded terrain, these maps continuously offer fresh arenas to prove your worth.
With everything it brings to the table, Knights of Cross and Rose is poised to captivate both newcomers and long-time fans of the franchise. The Historical Battles deliver focused yet intense solo challenges that reward strategic mastery, while the Knights Templar and House of Lancaster push the boundaries of what variant civilizations can offer. Prepare for a deeply immersive experience through these remarkable additions to the Age of Empires IV universe — a true reflection of the franchise's enduring evolution and ambition.

I genuinely don’t understand how we’re nearly three years in and still don’t have meaningful new civilizations in Age of Empires IV. That was one of the biggest things people were excited about post-launch—expanding the
Over due for this review, The civs are good and unique but... the fact that the sultans got a campaign and the templars didn't shows the devs are bias when it comes to history. Its as if they didn't want to step on the
Dont get the hate, its 15 Bucks thats totally fine, i reall enjoy the Sub Variants. Ppl buy Pizzas from Dominos for 15 Bucks purely bc they are to lazy to cook even tho its cheaper, yet Digital Art gets looked at its
Missions are not base buildings and battles. Just linear programmed setups that seem overly difficult and not fun. First mission, 30 champions vs 30 champions....basically just clicking attack with a group of units.
Really good civs (especially Knights Templar that plays like no other in game) and surprisingly good single player with the historic battle scenarios. If there's a good sale go for it.
this is trash. its not new civs its a variation of the old ones....Where's america at least? idgaf about this crap- give me the mexicans and indians and incans...the newer DLC? the east Dynasties? its just another skin
